    General Dentistry

The field of general dentistry covers most aspects of dentistry and is performed by general dentists. They are able to determine what sorts of restorations are needed to keep your teeth strong and lifelong.

Among the general dentistry services are oral health examination, tooth pain diagnosis, all forms of fillings, root canal treatments, dental crowns, tooth extraction and gum disease treatments.

In case of any dental problems, the first doctor you should see is your general dentist. He or she can handle your problem correctly and design the right treatment plan for you. Whenever necessary, the general dentist will recommend that you visit a dental specialist.

If you and your family are looking for a new oral health care provider, do not hesitate to contact Pristine Dentalworks. As a dental practice, we treat patients of all ages and we are happy to help them to achieve a healthy smile.

    Restorative Dentistry

Restorative dentistry is a part of General Dentistry that is focused on repairing oral structures that have been damaged or replacing missing teeth. Unlike preventative procedures which are meant to prevent oral conditions like gum disease, tooth decay, and root canal infections, restorative dentistry is designed to treat diseases and infections in the teeth and gums. Usually, a customized management plan is used, so that potential damage can be prevented and the dangers associated with untreated oral health concerns can be avoided. The procedures that fall under Restorative dentistry include filling a cavity, placing a crown on a cracked tooth, and replacing missing teeth through dental bridges or dental implants.

    Dental Fillings

Dental fillings are materials that are used to restore a worn, decayed or damaged tooth structure. In a dental filling procedure, the dentist removes the decay from the affected tooth and then fills the area with a hard material. In this way, the tooth is protected from further damage and restoration.

Dental fillings can be made from various materials such as composite, metal, ceramic, silver, or glass ionomer. All of these materials are safe and durable. In most cases, the type of filling used depends on the location and extent of decay, the cost of the material, the dentist's recommendation, and the patient's personal preferences.

The dental filling procedure is usually the quickest and least invasive method to restore a tooth. Most fillings can be completed in just one appointment.

    Crowns

Dental crowns are structures designed to cover seriously damaged teeth. They are intended to save and restore the tooth's shape and size so that it works and look like a natural tooth. Crowns can be constructed of various materials such as metal, ceramic, porcelain, resin, zirconia.

The dental crown procedure usually requires several dental appointments. Prior to placing a dental crown, the dentist needs to examine the patient and prepare the tooth. Then he/ she will take an impression of the teeth and send it to a technician for construction. Once the crown is made, it will be placed on the tooth.

Teeth crowns are restorations that last for a long time. This treatment can solve many dental problems such as tooth decay, broken teeth, sensitivity, and infections.

    Bridges

Dental bridges are structures used to replace one or more teeth that are missing. For a dental bridge to be delivered and prepared successfully, there must be stable healthy teeth by the two sides of the missing tooth/ teeth.

Typically, a bridge is a set of crowns attached to two teeth on either side of the false tooth and cemented in place. Support teeth, called abutment teeth, sit on either side of the space. A bridge retainer resembles a cap or crown that is custom-made to fit and cover the abutment teeth. When placed properly, dental bridges function like natural teeth.

A number of types of dental bridges are available, including traditional fixed bridges, cantilever bridges, resin-bonded bridges, and implant-supported bridges. In most cases, the type of dental bridge used depends on the dentist's recommendation and on the patient's needs and preferences.

    Extractions

    Tooth Extraction

Tooth extraction is a relatively quick procedure that is performed by general dentists or, in more severe cases, by oral and maxillofacial surgeons It can be carried out under local or general anaesthesia depending on the complexity of the case. A tooth or teeth may need to be removed if they have been severely damaged by tooth decay, gum disease, or trauma.

The tooth extraction procedure can be simple or surgical. In a simple extraction, the tooth is visible, not hidden below the gum line. Surgical extractions are necessary when the tooth cannot be easily reached and the doctor needs to cut the gum line. It is commonly used to remove wisdom teeth.

    Routine checkups

A routine check-up is a procedure where the dentist examines all teeth and soft tissues in the patient’s mouth. This allows the doctor to check for any oral diseases such as dental decay, gum disease, and other issues that may exist. As part of the routine dental exam, the patients may also discuss cosmetic issues like discoloured teeth and broken teeth.

In order to prevent dental problems, dental checkups must be performed every six months. By doing so, the dentists can find small problems early and treat them in simple, conservative ways. It is important to detect oral health problems early on because if left untreated, they can manifest themselves into more serious ones.

    Tooth decay

Tooth decay is a condition in which part of the tooth has been demineralized by acid usually produced by bacteria. This is among the most common dental problem and people often don’t realize they have tooth decay until it becomes deeper and more serious. Some of the symptoms that indicate tooth decay are toothache, tooth sensitivity, small holes in the tooth and staining.

Tooth decay is treated differently depending on the severity of the condition. The milder cases of decay can be treated by dental fillings. If the infection has reached the pulp of the tooth, the dentist will have to perform a root canal procedure and cover the tooth with a crown. A tooth that is severely damaged and can't be repaired with another treatment might need to be removed.

    Scaling and polishing

    Scaling and polishing

Scaling and polishing is a preventive dental procedure that helps patients maintain good oral hygiene and health. During scaling, the dental professional uses an ultrasonic scaler to eliminate plaque and hard deposits (tartar) from the teeth surfaces. Polishing is performed by using a special brush and polishing paste to remove the small particles and stains on the teeth and smooth the surfaces.

Scaling and polishing are important since they remove plaque and tartar, which may lead to severe diseases like cavities and gingivitis. For optimal results, this cleaning procedure should be done every six months.

    Gum/Periodontal treatments

Plaque and tartar buildup can affect the gums that surround the teeth and subsequently lead to gum or periodontal disease. Symptoms might include swelling, bleeding, or bad breath. Periodontitis can be dangerous since the bacteria in plaque can enter and travel through the blood vessels and affect other parts of the body.

Depending on how severe the gum inflammation is, periodontal disease can be treated non-surgically or surgically. Mild cases of this condition can be managed without surgery by scaling, root planing, or oral medicine. Patients with advanced periodontitis usually require oral surgery. A doctor can use any of the following techniques: flap surgery, soft tissue grafting, bone grafting, guided tissue regeneration, or tissue-stimulating proteins.

    Dental Cleaning

The purpose of dental cleaning is to remove plaque and tartar from the teeth in order to improve oral hygiene and protect the teeth from further dental issues. Cleanings are typically performed at the dentist's office by a regular dentist or dental hygienist.

The dental cleaning procedure involves scaling and removing hard deposits on the teeth, followed by polishing that removes any remaining plaque and whitens the teeth. After these are completed, the dentist teaches the patients about oral hygiene and provides tips on how to improve their dental health. When necessary, the doctor will recommend treatment options. Patients are advised to undergo dental cleanings every six months for optimal results.

No matter if you require routine checkups and cleanings or professional dental treatments like dental fillings, crowns and bridges, Pristine Dentalworks can help. We provide a range of dental care services to help you maintain a beautiful and healthy smile.
